Founded in 1922 as a cooperative partnership to maintain and repair fishing vessels under the name 'Industrielle des Pêcheries,' the company initially focused on the fishing industry.
After World War II, the company shifted its focus primarily to maintaining the Icelandic fleet. This activity expanded into general technical work both within and outside the sea fishing sector.
From the late 1970s onwards, a wide variety of vessels were also built at the IDP shipyard, including motorized lighters, rescue boats, and numerous fishing and dredging ships.
The shipyard also carried out numerous conversions, refurbishments, and engine reconditioning on fishing vessels, dredgers, and merchant ships.
The acquisition of the shipbuilding halls in the Ostend inner harbor in June 2013 opened up new possibilities. This large hall connects to the ship lift in the inner harbor and can accommodate two vessels, each up to 75 meters in length.
Thanks to this facility, Shipyard I.D.P. was able to expand its activities into high-tech projects and provide top-level service to sophisticated vessels, such as the fast catamarans supporting offshore wind farms.
As a result, Shipyard I.D.P. offers a wide range of high-quality services, from repairs and modifications to new builds. Customers can always rely on expert advice and support throughout the entire project. The experience and know-how of the shipyard's staff ensure the outstanding quality of all activities at Shipyard I.D.P.
